Why we built a practice tool for the way a gigging musician's memory works.
For 30 years I played gigs with an iPad on my stand. I had the ear for changes and the chops for the gig, but the lyrics never stuck. I'd play a song a hundred times and still need the screen.
Check out the photo of me: head down, eyes glued to the tablet, zero connection with the room. That was the moment.
I started researching how memory actually works. Turns out I'd been doing it wrong: reading lyrics passively instead of forcing recall early. My ADHD brain didn't need more repetition. It needed active repetition, the kind where you make your brain reach for it. That effort up front means less stress on gig day.
So I built the tool I needed. Repriso runs a memory-focused practice loop: reveal levels that hide more of the chart each rep, stumble tracking that shows exactly where you slip, confidence scores that decay like real memory, and spaced repetition that schedules each song right before it fades.
I'm reducing my reliance on my iPad. No more cramming. I walk on more confident, eyes up, present with the room.
